Learn how to make an irresistible homemade focaccia, perfect for your meals or appetizers. With its incomparable softness and its oregano aroma, this recipe will take you to Italy from the first bite. Here are all the steps to succeed in making this focaccia like a chef!
Ingredients for Focaccia:
- 500g flour (half 00 flour, half Manitoba possible)
- 400g of lukewarm water
- 10g of fresh brewer's yeast
- 1 teaspoon of sugar
- 15g of salt
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Dried rosemary
Preparation steps:
1. In a large bowl, mix the flour, salt and sugar. Dissolve the brewer's yeast in the warm water, then add it to the mixture. Add the olive oil and mix with a wooden spoon until you have a smooth, slightly sticky dough.
2. Cover the bowl with cling film or a damp tea towel. Let the dough rest in a warm place for 30 minutes, until the yeast begins to act.
3. Strengthening the dough: Using a spoon or lightly oiled hands, fold the dough several times from the outside to the center to strengthen its structure. Continue until it becomes more elastic. Cover again and let rest for 1 hour.
4. Drizzle some oil over the dough. Oil your hands, then bring the edges of the dough together towards the center to form a ball. Generously oil a rectangular mold and place the dough in it. Make a few more folds, bringing the edges to the center, then let rest for 30 minutes under a tea towel.
5. Oil the surface of the dough, then make indentations with your fingers all over the surface. Sprinkle generously with salt and fresh rosemary for an intense and authentic aroma.
6. Preheat your oven to 250°C. Bake the focaccia for about 15 minutes, until it is golden brown and slightly crispy on top.
Serve your focaccia warm, accompanied by cold cuts or grilled vegetables, for a 100% Italian experience. Its airy texture and subtle oregano aroma will be a sensation at the table.
